Need replacement rails for your Dell servers? At RackSolutions, we design server rails that serve as direct replacements or compatible alternatives to Dell OEM rails. Our rails are built with the same quality, fit, and dependability as the original rail kits.
Dell OEM Rails Compatibility Chart
This chart helps Dell users find RackSolutions rail kits that correspond to Dell OEM rail kits.
Whether you need a perfect match (based on rail type) or a compatible option (based on dimensions), our rack rails will keep your Dell servers secure and installation simple.
If your Dell Rail Identifier Code doesn’t have an exact match by rail type, we do offer compatible replacement options.
-
First Column: These are the RackSolutions Rack Rails. Each SKU represents a RackSolutions rail kit that can be used as an alternative to Dell’s standard OEM rails.
-
Second Column: These are the Dell Rail Identifier Codes that are an exact match to the corresponding RackSolutions rail in the first column. If your Dell server uses one of these rail codes, the RackSolutions rail listed will function as a direct replacement.
-
Third Column: These are Dell Rail Identifier Codes that are compatible with the corresponding RackSolutions rails but are NOT an exact match. Compatibility is based on fit, not on function.
- Fourth Column: These are the Dell Rail Types associated with the Dell Rail Identifier codes in column three. Examples include Sliding, ReadyRails II, and Generic Tool-less. Since the RackSolutions rails are a dry slide rail type (column one), they are not an exact match to these Dell rail types in terms of functionality.
NOTE: If your Dell Rail Identifier Code is listed in the third column, the RackSolutions rails will fit your server, but they may not function exactly the same. For example, if your Dell rail is a sliding type and the RackSolutions equivalent rail is a dry slide, it will securely hold your server but will not provide a sliding mechanism. This means that the server cannot be pulled out without being detached.

FAQs: Dell OEM Server Rails Alternatives
What is a Dell Rail Identifier?
The Dell Rail Identifier is a two-character code used on most Dell rail kits to indicate compatibility between rails and systems. According to Dell, it’s a two character code consisting of a letter followed by a one or two-digit number. It is typically located on a front inside surface on both the left and right sliding rail and drop-in/stab-in rail members.
If there is a component of the rail kit that is attached to the chassis prior to installing the system into a rack, such as with the stab-in static rails, the Dell rail identifier code is located closer to the center of the component. This information is located on the Dell Enterprise Systems Rail Sizing and Rack Compatibility Matrix PDF – Page 7.
What are the different server rack rail types?
The three common types of rack rails are sliding rails, fixed rails, and tool-less rails. Each type has its own purpose and advantages, and knowing how they compare will help you choose the best option for your setup. You can check out the RackSolutions Rack Rail Types Guide here.
