Maximum Flexibility and Convenience
Today’s servers and computer equipment provide a lot of advantages relative to their space requirements and footprint. However, it is still important to properly configure your computer spaces for maximum efficiency and convenience. With constantly changing demands and calls for increased capacity, choosing the right racking solutions is important.
Gaining easy access to servers and other units is one purpose of a flexible racking system. Making adjustments for ventilation and other changes in configuration can be a hassle if the racking you choose requires a major reassembly. However, many IT managers find tool-less racks a handy option.
These systems are designed to handle any rack server and allow multiple sizes and configurations. The selected racks fit easily onto regularly-spaced square holes along the vertical 4Post elements of the rack. This allows for horizontal racks to be installed easily and for multiple equipment sizes. Any rackmount server can be accommodated, including weights of:
-
45 lbs for the 1U tool-less rack rail
-
75 lbs for the 2U tool-less rack rail
-
200 lbs for the 29 tool-less rack rail
Multiple Sizes and Configurations
The tool-less rack rails and 4Post racks allow multiple configurations and applications. These systems provide a more efficient alternative to standard OEM slide rails and provide mounting depths of 28 to 30 inches (711 – 762 mm). The available cable management bar allows for an organized arrangement of all cords and cables.
There is also a 2Post rack mounting option of providing flush mount rack server installation; this option requires 4UKIT-003.
The 1U tool-less rack rail is designed for equipment with a minimum width of 16.625 inches and a maximum width of 17.61 inches. It has a material thickness of .036 inches and will accommodate equipment with a minimum depth of 18 inches and a maximum of 30 inches. This rack handles up to 45 pounds of weight.
The 2U tool-less rack rail handles equipment with a minimum width of 16.375 inches and a maximum width of 17.61 inches. It has a material thickness of .046 inches and will fit equipment with a minimum depth of 27.89 inches and a maximum of 30 inches. This rack handles up to 75 pounds of weight.
