Server Rack Mounting (4-Post)
Dell R200 Installation Overview and Rackmount Options
The Dell R200 is an entry level 1U Rackmount Server. There are several Rail Kits offered by Dell that allow the R200 to be easily installed into numerous types of Server Racks. The available options provide an alternative to the Dell Rail Kits in the event that the Dell Rail Kit is incompatible with a Server Rack.

Dell R200 Rail Kits
The Dell R200 has 5 different Rail Kits. This server does not use the new Universal Rapid/Versa Rail Kit. It has the older style kits that are specific to a certain type of Server Rack. There are two types of rail kits available for the 4Post Server Racks. These Rail Kits are a Sliding and a Static type. Each of these types of Rail Kits are available in Rapid Rails (for square holes) or Versa Rails (for round, non-threaded holes). There is also a 2Post Relay Rack Rail Kit available. This type of Rail Kit allows the Dell R200 to be installed in a centermount or a flushmount configuration.
Dell R200 Slide Rail Kits
The Dell PowerEdge R200 has two Sliding Rail Kits available. These Rail Kits are compatible with either a square hole server rack (Rapid Rail version) or a round non-threaded hole server rack (Versa Rail version). These rail kits are the older style that Dell has been making for the last several years. These rail kits allow the server to slide completely out of the server rack for maintenance and service without being removed.
Dell R200 Fixed Rails
The Dell R200 can be quickly installed into any type of Server Rack utilizing a set of 1U Fixed Rails as an alternative to the Dell Rail Kit. The Fixed Rail is a generic product that allows multiple different types of equipment to be installed into any type of Server Rack. The advantage to using a Fixed Rail to install the R200 over the Dell Rail Kit is mostly cost. The Fixed Rail provides significant cost savings compared to the Dell Rail Kit for the R200. Additional savings are seen by using the Fixed Rail for additional equipment once the R200 has been upgraded to a newer Server. The Fixed Rail can be used again and again without having to purchase expensive Slide Rail Kits.

Dell R200 Relay Rack Kit
Dell manufactures 2Post Rail Kit for the R200. This rail kit is compatible with Relay Racks that have an upright from 3″ all the way to 6″. This Rail Kit is the preferred method to use if it is available. However if this Rail Kit cannot be obtained then the preferred alternative is the 1U Fixed Rail. This rail kit is generic enough to mount just about any type of equipment into any type of 2Post Relay Rack.
