Avalara is a tax compliance software that enables users to manage their own tax exemptions. Customers can now upload their tax exemption certificates directly to their RackSolutions account.
Overview of the Process:
- Customer Login: Log into your account on the RackSolutions website.
- Fill Out Information: Fill out the required fields to provide your tax exemption details.
- Upload Certification: For verification, you need to upload the tax exemption certificate.
- Submission to Avalara: After completing the form and uploading the necessary documentation, you will submit it to Avalara for review.
- Wait for Approval: Avalara will review the submitted documents. You will receive approval or feedback after a few days.
How To Upload Tax Exemption Certificate
- Log in to your RackSolutions account to submit your tax exemption form.
- Navigate to your account dashboard.
- My Account > View Dashboard
- On the left, click on Tax Certificates. To add your tax exemptions, click on the Add Exemption button.
- Tax Certificates > Add Exemption
- When you click on the Add Exemption button, you will need to select a new state/exposure zone to proceed.
- Fill out your Tax Information.
- Name, Phone, Address, City, Country, State, ZIP
- Select your reasoning that best applies for creating this document. Reasoning options are:
- Purchase will be used by the federal government
- Purchase will be used in another exempt manner not listed above
- Purchase will be resold
- Purchase should be taxable
- Purchase will be used by tribal government agencies
- Based on your selected reason for creating the document, complete the required information that follows.
For example: when Purchase will be used in another exempt manner not listed above is selected, you will be required to fill out the Resale Certificate. Under Business Information, fill out the following information:
- Seller’s permit certification (select to certify)
- Seller’s permit number (that is used for the state)
- License certification (select what applies and provide related information)
- State license or registration number
- Describe property to be purchased
*This section will vary depending on your selected reasoning.
- Fill out the Signer Information.
- Once your signature is submitted, you have successfully created a tax document.
- The Tax Exemption Certificate is now available on your account.
- After your Tax Exemption Certificate is approved, you can start adding products to your cart. Once you have reviewed your order summary, you'll have the options to:
- Upload your first certificate
- Manage existing certificates
- To receive tax exemption on your purchase, please ensure that your tax certificate is added when checking out.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your shopping cart must be empty before adding a Tax Exemption certificate to your account. Otherwise, tax exemption will not be applied to items already in your cart.
