There are times when flush mount monitor just works. There are any number of reasons why a person would choose to mount their monitor flush to the wall as opposed to leaving it free-standing on a desk or table top. But it does make a certain home fashion statement when done right. Flush mounting allows the monitor to be less conspicuous so that it does not detract from the home décor. However, there are also practical reasons why a flush mount monitor may be the best choice as explained here.
Limited Space
When a desk or table is short on space, flush mounting the monitor frees it up. It takes the monitor off of the actual work area and places it flush against the wall allowing a much more efficient use of the work space. This makes it a perfect option for small work areas or shared offices.
High Distraction Environment
When a work space is located in an environment that has high visual and auditory distractions, a flush mount monitor can help the user focus in on the work, not what is going on around them. The monitor can be placed at eye level allowing a more natural posture for the user. With the monitor at eye level, the eye is naturally drawn to that area – and away from external activity that may be distractions. For monitors that have speakers it puts the sound at just the right height as well.
Perfect Positioning
Flush mounting allows the monitor to be at the perfect position. OSHA requires monitors to be at eye level and flush mounting puts it there. The user can sit comfortably, looking straight ahead at the monitor and work without compromising their posture or developing conditions that stem from improper monitor placement.
Stability
Stability is a major factor when choosing to flush mount a monitor. A desktop monitor can be moved, either accidentally or intentionally. The stand can weaken so that it no longer adequately supports the monitor. This leads to low monitor placement causing the user to compensate by adjusting their posture in an unhealthy manner. A flush mount monitor stays put, in the same position, until it is removed. There is no risk of it being moved or changing positions. When it is installed, it stays there.
